The lattice motif is among one of the oldest devices in French decoration, carried from garden treillage into the interior and reduced, by the twentieth century, to its thinnest possible line. Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann framed his cabinet doors with a row of small ivory dots set into Macassar ebony. Jean Royère drew the same structure in fine rod.

The Jacques follows this lineage. Two elegant treillaged bands of fine ivory, cross a creamy oatmeal ground at the upper and lower borders. Marked with three points of deep crimson red.

Hand-knotted at 100 knots per square inch in New Zealand wool and bamboo silk by Goodweave-certified artisans in Nepal, over several months on the loom. The silk carries the ivory line, which lifts against the wool as the light moves.

At 180 x 240cm. Custom sizes on request.

Limited to an edition of 5. Each piece is made to order.
